A new mentoring initiative for charities in Kent and Medway

03-Aug-2020

Charity Mentors Kent and Medway is a new in initiative established at the suggestion of the Kent Lieutenancy and inspired by similar successful operations being run in East Sussex and Oxfordshire.

Charity Mentors Kent and Medway provide free mentoring to charities and not-for-profit community organisations by senior leaders with strategic management experience. It will typically be focused on the chief executive and is aimed at improving organisations’ strategic vision, effectiveness and efficiency.

They recognise that running a charity or social enterprise can be a challenging and sometimes lonely job. The management of day to day issues often leaves little time to step back and think about the strategic direction of an organisation and how best to get there. Speaking to somebody with top level management experience in business or charity sectors can help leaders ger fresh perspectives and release time to concentrate better on the future.

The Covid-19 pandemic has made working more difficult for everybody. Though not ideal, they are finding that effective mentoring can still be delivered remotely e.g. using Zoom. The first project started a couple of months ago and half a dozen are now under way.

You can find more details on their website.

If your charity or not-for-profit organisation is interested in learning more about what is involved, please contact the co-ordinator, Nick Marden at nick.marden@charitymentorskent.org
