Building a Healthier Medway - Involving Medway Community Grants programme24-Apr-2017
Grants are now available to Medway community groups looking to engage local residents to support healthier living and more active communities.
Involving Medway is an enterprise who is working to encourage local people to get involved with and help make decisions about health services. They are also working to gather views and make sure local people have their voices heard.
The Involving Medway Community Grants Programme is designed to support people and small community groups in the local area who would like to run a community focused project based in and supporting the people of Medway.
Grants of up to £1,500 are available for activities such as hall hire for coffee mornings; equipment for a common community space; days out for group of carers or help to set up a peer support group.
The intention is to increase the range of activities which would go toward benefitting a person’s physical or mental health, as well as encourage the growth of local initiatives that have been started and run by residents living in the Medway.
Through the support of residents improving their health, and by bringing people together to support each other, another prospect would be to create stronger connections between people living in the area; and challenge issues such as isolation.
Kent Community Foundation (KCF) is managing the applications to provide grants to local groups or organisations that want to deliver short term or one-off activities. The groups can be either registered voluntary sector organisations or similar types of structured groups of local residents.
Opened recently, the deadline for applications is 8th May 2017.
