“Caring for Carers” - Carers Week Event by Carers First

12-Jun-2017

To mark Carers Week, Carers First invites you to their “Caring for Carers” event to celebrate and recognise the contribution carers make in the community.

The very nature of caring, to be there for someone we care about who is facing ill health or disability, often means those people who provide the care do not recognise themselves as carers. As a result, they too can miss out on care and support for themselves.

Without the right help and support, caring can have a devastating impact: Carers can quickly become socially isolated which impacts on their physical and emotional health – and their work and finances can also be hit hard.

Carers FIRST support carers living Kent & Medway, Lincolnshire and Waltham Forest. They offer a range of support; from Supporting you with conversations with people including GPs, social services and hospitals, to helping you to maximise you household income by assisting with checking your eligibility for benefits and financial support.

During Carers Week, and to recognise and raise awareness of the contribution carers make in the community, Carers FIRST invites you to their “Caring for Carers” event.

Carers First will also be offering opportunities to have short 1-1 appointments to talk about your caring role, and experts will be on hand to provide a Carers Assessment or discussing legal or financial issues.

The event is taking place at the Holiday Inn in Chatham, on Thursday 15th June 2017, between 10am—4pm.

Carers First say that everyone is welcome to join them for a day of celebration, information sharing and talks, with topics including wills, trusts, dementia and your health.

For more information, call the Carers First Carers Hub on 0300 303 1555.
