Discovery Grants Available from Santander Foundation

14-Sep-2017

Santander is currently taking applications for their Discovery Grants Programme from charities and similar organisations working to benefit disadvantaged people in the UK.

Discovery Grants combine the Foundations of the Community Plus, Learn & Grow and the Money Skills schemes which were previously delivered by Santander.

The Discovery Grants programme offers grants of up to £5,000 for charities registered in the UK; as well as Community Interest Companies and Credit Unions.

The programme aims to support a wide range of small and local charities within a wide range of activities that supports one or more of their priority groups.

These priorities are:

  • Explorer - improving knowledge and insight (such as a Money Management workshop to help disadvantaged people learn how to budget)
  • Transformer - developing skills and experience (for example work-based training and mentors to help socially isolated people develop skills to get back into work, or sign language training for parents with hearing impaired children); and
  • Changemaker - innovative solutions to social challenges (this can include access to a service for less able-bodied young people, using specially developed equipment to help them gain access)

Santander advises that grants need to directly benefit disadvantaged people within the UK and must be something that is wholly charitable. They also advise the funding is available for twelve months and should be exclusively for a local project.

Because the Grants scheme is a continuous rolling programme; there is no deadline and so applications can be accepted at any time.

For more information and how to apply, visit the Discovery website.
