Funding and Support from Kent Sport

23-Jun-2020

An opportunity for groups in Medway and Swale

COVID-19 is having a significant impact on people’s ability to be physically active and has the potential to further widen inequalities in sport and physical activity participation.

They appreciate being active might not be a priority for some right now and know that you all must be extremely busy! They also understand that some people may be shielding, others anxious about going out, their finances, their health, but they also recognise the importance of physical activity in helping to improve well-being. They are keen to investigate how they can support you, to support your community, and help increase activity levels.

They have expertise, ideas and funding to support projects and programmes that can help to encourage people to be active, and would need your support to identify those who maybe interested, and what they might be interested in! Projects would need to focus on those organisations and people most in need at this time.

Research tells us BAME, People on Low Incomes, Disabled people and/or those with long term health conditions were less likely to be active prior to COVID 19, and they want to avoid making an existing problem worse, by targeting these audiences through our funding.

They would love to hear from you to discuss how they can help…

It maybe, that you were running exercise classes prior to the outbreak, which have stopped running and need support to help people continue to do this in their own homes, or it may be that a small social distancing group of 5 exercise class with an instructor in a local park would be ideal!
