Helping to Protect Medway - Covid-19 Community Resources from Medway Council19-Oct-2020
With the Coronavirus outbreak impacting everyone’s lives Medway Council is working with partner councils and other partner organisations to make sure that
the most vulnerable are cared for.
Based on current evidence, Medway Council explains that the virus is having more of an impact on people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) groups. The Council have developed a number of COVID work streams across Kent and Medway, designed to address these inequalities.
The work streams include a plan to protect frontline health and social care workforce, improved clinical management, targeted test & trace and a social marketing project.
Launched in June 2020, and made up of a wide range of partners and fantastic volunteer researcher support, this group has been working hard to co-design a marketing campaign that aims to reach out to all residents and organisations in Kent and Medway.
Through their collective efforts, The Council wants to help protect of the most vulnerable groups from the impact of COVID-19, and the first part of their work centres around COVID safety messages and symptom awareness, and has made available a series of resources which are FREE to download by any resident or organisation.
Medway Council are also launching the COVID-19 Community Champions Programme to support them in reaching all residents and groups with these important messages.
Available for anyone (and with no set time commitment for those that sign up), The Council says this Champions Programme is ideally to recruit residents who are trusted in their communities and have the opportunity to pass on the key COVID messages, as they become relevant.
