Make a Difference - Become a Trustee07-Aug-2017
Being a trustee is one of the most important roles in the voluntary sector. Trustees have ultimate responsibility for everything a charity does; directing its strategy, making sure it meets its mission and keeping an eye on finances. A good Board of Trustees can often make the difference between the success and failure of a charity.
There are lots of charities working in Medway on everything from supporting people with mental health issues to offering young people a better chance in
life; or from looking after our heritage to making sure older people aren’t isolated and lonely. Many of them could really benefit from the time and
skills you could offer them as a trustee and we know from conversations with our members that many are crying out for new trustees.
Becoming a trustee of an organisation is a great way of using your existing skills and developing new ones. For many people it can be a life changing experience or the route to new career path. Trusteeship offers you the chance to learn about the management and strategy side of charities and by taking on a leadership role, you can put your skills and experience to use and make a lasting difference to something you care about.
