Medway Neuro-Arts Festival, July 2019

14-May-2019

The Medway Neurological Network will be hosting an Arts and Film festival in Medway, highlighting the therapeutic benefits of Arts for those with neurological conditions.

Started in 2015, The Medway Neurological Network (MNN) work to be the voice of those affected by neurological conditions in Medway, as well as support existing disability services and facilities and campaign for their improvement.

Working in partnership with Medway Adult Education (MAE) and Nucleus Arts, the Network has organised a Medway Neuro Arts Festival on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st July 2019.

The aim of the Festival is not only to highlight the therapeutic benefits of Arts for those with neurological conditions, but also provide neurological information and signpost participants to relevant local support.

Saturday 20th July will see the Arts Festival hosted at the Rochester Community Hub at Medway Adult Education building and Eastgate House & Gardens.

Arts being showcased will be in 4 zones:

  • Music & Poetry Corner
  • Dance & Health
  • Wellbeing (Tai Chi, Yoga, Mindfulness) and
  • Visual & Creative Arts

Jane Cullen's play 'Say that again' will also premiere on Saturday 20th July at Eastgate House.

Based on Jane’s book of the same title, the play will be performed by The Hempstead Players at Eastgate House, 5.30pm to 7.30pm. After the play there will be a Q & A session with the author.

Entrance is FREE, but organisers ask that tickets be booked prior to the event using the play’s Eventbrite Portal; and they advise booking early as seats are limited.

Sunday 21st July sees the Film Festival at the Huguenot Museum, Rochester. With features having a neurological theme, the Festival will run from 11am to 1pm and then 2pm to 4pm.

Entrance is FREE, but organisers ask that tickets be booked prior to the event using the Film Festival’s Eventbrite Portal.

If you would like more information, or have any suggestions or comments, you can contact MNN by email at info@medwayneuro.org.uk.
