More Than Saying Thanks – Giving Tuesday, 1 December 2020

Giving Tuesday is an essential event in the charity fundraising calendar, and this year sees it being more important than ever as the sector deals with the challenges of fundraising in light of the pandemic.

Giving Tuesday is a great way to come together with family, friends, community, social groups or organisations and find a way to give back.

Normally celebrated soon after Black Friday or Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is an internationally recognised event of giving, through the power of social media and through collaboration. There are thousands of Giving Tuesday partners across the world and the campaign is growing every year.

In 2019, Giving Tuesday was the top trending phrase on Twitter in the UK, generating millions of impressions, and across the country more than £14 Million was raised through online donations: That’s over £9,000 a minute!

Nearly 10 years on from its original launch and Giving Tuesday now has a special significance in 2020 - as the charity sector has been left undone following the loss of donations and public giving amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year sees Giving Tuesday on 1st December 2020.

There are many ways for people to take part and give - whether it’s through giving some of your time, a donation, gift, or simply a thank-you to charity supporters for all their help over the year.
