Supporting Each Other and Those we Serve – VCS COVID-19 Community Response Meetings, Summer 2020

MVA announce the continuation of their series of video conferences intended to support the sector in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic - with upcoming topics including Economy & Employment and Independent Living

Over the past few months MVA has expanded and adapted its work in light of the COVID-19 outbreak, to ensure they carry on supporting the front line organisations and groups that work to help and support the community during these challenging times.

These efforts have been recognised by everyone involved, and that the collective work and actions from both Public and Voluntary Sectors alike has been a positive response to the Coronavirus outbreak; enabling the immediate needs in the wake of the pandemic to be met as quickly and as effectively as possible.

Since launching their VCS Covid-19 Response Meetings on Friday mornings, MVA are aiming to build on the successful collaborative working achieved so far.

The benefits of this included:

  • The opportunity for sector organisations and groups to keep in contact and carrying on conversation around making the most of each other’s resources
  • Gaining a better understanding of the work involved from such authorities including Medway Council, NHS, Clinical Commissioning Group, Department of Work and Pensions and Housing, in the event of cross-sector collaboration or engagement, as well as giving the sector the opportunity to have a voice in any plans going forward.

MVA have recently announced extending this series of Friday meetings; continuing to host the platform for these discussions through video-conferencing and chats. They have also organised statutory sector representatives as guest speakers to present updates and gain feedback from the sector in terms of the impact on the communities they serve and where the opportunities for collaboration are.

Covering the subject of Economy & Employment, The next event is Friday 31st July 2020, with Social Care and Supporting Independent Living being scheduled for mid-August and further events to be announced in later weeks.

If you would like to take part in any of the meetings, or would like to know more, you can contact Jane Howard, CEO of MVA, on 01634 812 850, or by email at
