Your NHS Needs You - Government Call for Volunteers to Help Fight Pandemic, March 2020

The Government has launched an appeal for volunteers to help the NHS fight the COVID-19 outbreak.

In a recent daily briefing from Downing Street, the Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced a major campaign.

Delivered by Royal Volunteer Service (RVS) and working with GoodSAM, the campaign is to recruit over 200,000 volunteers to support the Britons most at risk from the Pandemic.

The Secretary also announced that more than 35,000 extra NHS staff will join the fight against the virus. This includes retired doctors and nurses returning to the service, as well as final year students join the effort.

The Health Secretary also confirmed the launch of a new temporary hospital. The NHS Nightingale Hospital is to open at London’s Excel centre.

For more information about becoming a volunteer, visit the RVS website.
