Involving Medway Community Health Researchers
Are you interested in improving health and wellbeing in Medway? Would you like to help people get heard? Do you want to learn new skills? Medway Voluntary Action is recruiting to expand their team of volunteer Community Health Researchers to help make sure the voices and experiences of local people are listened to in health planning. We are interested in recruiting local residents from across the Medway Towns to carry out interviews within local communities. You will receive free training and additional support from MVA.

Volunteer Befriender - Medway Perinatal Support Project
To provide emotional support to a mum or dad during the perinatal period. We provide emotional support to parents who are suffering with low to moderate mental health issues or are identified as vulnerable to developing mental health issues in the perinatal period. This support may be through telephone calls, home visits, group work or support to access other local services.

Home Visiting Volunteer
A volunteer will be matched to a family and then visit the family for 2-3 hours once a week to offer: Friendly support through difficult times, the understanding that when bringing up children problems are not unusual, a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on, an extra pair of hands to cope with every day tasks and practical help with play activities.

Children's Bereavement Support Volunteer
Hours: 8.30-4.30 (Saturday and Sunday) 12weekends a year maximum. We would expect you to commit to at least 3 weekends a year. This role is working alongside a child/young person on one of our bereavement support weekends. Ideally you will have experience in working with children and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Lunch, uniform, mileage expenses and free training. Volunteering within Children’s Services
Are you passionate about helping others and enjoy working with children and young people? The Community Child Health Team would love to hear from you! MCH works with local children, young people and their parents. We are looking for volunteers to share ideas and experiences, develop skills and confidence, explore opportunities and make life-long friends. We would welcome volunteers to come and support our families, this could be chatting with our parents and children whilst they are waiting for their appointment or contacting our families by telephone for a chat to see how they are doing. Some of the roles are at other health centres around Medway, helping with our Health Visitors Team, and other professionals. We are also looking for volunteers to support our families with outside activities this could be attending a club or support group outside of MCH. Can you contribute maybe a couple of hours, or half a day or more? Volunteer Peer Mentor
We are looking to provide a Volunteer Peer Mentoring service to people living in their own homes, as part of The Housing First Service in Medway. We are looking for people with lived experience or transferable skills who will work with people to help them settle into their homes and the local community. We hope that you will be able to support each person to progress in the areas of their lives where they feel they need support and to achieve their goals. The role includes the following • Meet with people on an agreed basis as required, at their home or mutually agreed venue. • Provide support, guidance and encouragement in an informal or one to one setting. • Promote a feeling of empowerment and independence and demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities. • Engage with other volunteers, partner agencies and the Housing First Team. These volunteers assist the work of our Reserve Wardens by keeping a close eye on the livestock who help us to manage our sites. Volunteers will visit sites on a specific day each week and report any issues to our Wardens. The volunteers will be offered full training in checking livestock and monitoring activity on these sites, as well as on-going support.
