Free Online Prevent Duty Information Session - 18th June 2021

MVA are delighted to announce the Guest Speaker for their next VCS Community Update Meeting is Nick Wilkinson, Kent County Council's (KCC) Prevent and Channel Strategic Manager. 

Nick Wilkinson has extensive experience in criminal justice, counter terrorism and partnership working. He is the lead officer for Prevent for KCC and is a member of the National Counter Terrorism Advisory Group and Special Interest Group on Countering Extremism. He retired as an Assistant Chief Constable with Sussex Police in 2012. In August 2011 Nick led the Sussex Police response to serious disorder around the UK. Nick was a member of the ACPO Children and Young Persons Group and ACPO Drugs Committee undertaking national responsibilities in these areas, including being the ACPO member of the Children’s Interagency Group and National Participation Forum. He was a nationally accredited gold commander for firearms, major incidents and CBRNE incidents. In July 2000 he was in charge of the search for Sarah Payne and has delivered national training on responding to missing children.

At the upcoming VCS Community Update Meeting on 18th June, Nick will be presenting on the Prevent Duty and highlighting the UK’s counter terrorism strategy and local threats and risks in Medway and Kent. The session will comprise a mix of slides and short videos, ensuring you can all help to play your part in keeping Medway safe.
