Mind Fitness Train the Trainer – Free Courses for Youth Healthcare Professionals from West Kent Mind

West Kent Mind has recently launched a series of free courses aimed at healthcare professionals who work with young people and children.

The Mind Fitness Train the Trainer course from West Kent Mind is a 3 hour session which will equip attendees with the skills and materials to deliver Mind Fitness with the focus on early intervention for children and young people.

Mind Fitness is a highly interactive and fun way to engage in understanding more about mental health and wellbeing. These sessions are flexible; and designed to be used throughout the academic year in amongst other planned sessions.

Achieved through props, short demonstrations and discussion, the course aims to provide insights and better understanding of mental health and fitness; and the topics that are covered include:

  • Mental health including the links with physical health, feeling stressed or anxious.
  • Striving to eliminate stigma and discrimination.
  • The Six Ways to Wellbeing and how these can help keep your mind stay fit and well.
  • Creating culture change around mental health.

To be eligible for the training, West Kent Mind ask that your work involve supporting children and young people who are more at risk of developing mental health problems because of their circumstances, background or experiences, and who are likely to struggle to access services.

Health Education England, who is funding the programme, has said they require all participants to have a suitable DBS check in place.

Started recently, the Mind Fitness Train the Trainer courses are running at various venues and locations in and around the Medway and Kent areas from NOW till December.

For more information and to book your FREE place on a course, visit the West Kent Mind website.
